Alex and Emilee Abraham moved to Hogansville from Peachtree City in 2016. When they moved here they had no idea what God had planned for them but He made it clear this is where they were meant to be. Fast forward to April 2018 when Alex was downtown one afternoon. He got into his truck to drive home and as he was pulling out of his parking spot a kid on a bike ran into the back of his truck. Alex jumped out of his truck to make sure he was okay. As Alex chatted with him & helped him get cleaned up he realized his breaks weren’t attached on his bike. Emilee quickly agreed. That night, Pedal Forward was born. By June of 2018, Pedal Forward received their 501c(3) status as an official non profit.
We all have a sense of wanting to belong. To be seen, known, and loved. At Pedal Forward, we desire to be that for our local youth. For them to come and be part of the family we are building in Pedal Forward. That they may know that when they are with us, they are part of a family that they may not have or experience at home. One that loves deeply and freely. That they can come just as they are and find acceptance. Many of our kids are being raised by grandparents or single parents. We desire to stand in the gap for our community and to offer support to both the guardians of these kids and to the kids themselves. We hope that our programs will go much further than just bicycle mechanics but that our kids would walk away with a sense of pride, education, and sincere joy when they spend time with us and our team!
